“It’s not the Dance; it’s the Praise in the Dance”

 

 

Velneeta Huff Hamlett Born in Mt. Vernon Alabama and lived most of her adult life in Atlanta, Ga. Velneeta is very inspired by the Lord and continues to rise to the spotlight as a phenomenal Dance Director, Choreographer and Gospel Dance Producer. Her genuine love for the performing arts has inspired her to dance, create and teach powerful Christian dance genres. Velneeta taught her first choreographed solo at the age of 15 for her Sister, who performed a dance solo for Robinson school of Dance.  Velneeta’s passion for dance started a very early age. But with five sisters, her parents could only send one child. Velneeta moved to Atlanta, Ga as a young adult. She studied dance at the Atlanta Artistic School of Dance. Velneeta continued her passion in dance throughout her young life. Choreographing and creating dance routines for others. In 1990 she moved to Kansas City, Mo where she became known for her natural dance ability which ultimately pushed her to the front line in style and creativity. Velneeta, started to further her education in dance by enrolling in college, when she was struck with the news of having a nervous system disease called MS. This disease of the central nervous system will shut down all activities of the limbs, Velneeta was told based on her test results, she only had two years before she would lose her ability to speak and walk.

 

 In her darkest moment of life, she asked God, what you would have me to do.  He spoke “Dance”, puzzled at Gods response; Velneeta never knew that you could dance before God, other than what she had learned growing up in Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church.  Once God called her, she accepted the calling in 1999 as she approached the late Bishop WB Henderson of Trinity COGIC.  Bishop Henderson encouraged Velneeta to teach dance in his church as history would be made, she was the first dance director to ever teach dance in Trinity Temple COGIC.  After teaching dance for five years in Trinity, Velneeta continued her struggle with MS diagnosis as she kept meeting with doctors. In 2005, well into her calling, Velneeta returned to KUMED Center for her final results before talking the MS medicines.  Doctors told Velneeta that, they had made a major mistake with her diagnosis. The top neurologist of KU Medical Center informed Velneeta that based on what she had reviewed and the test results they have monitored for five years, She informed Velneeta that she did not have MS and to go live her life. 

 

Velneeta moved on her calling even higher, as she realized that God had called her to not just Dance; but to go into the deep of Praise Dancing to Inspire and empower young people with this gift of dance and worshiping His name. Over the next ten years Velneeta developed an even stronger passion and commitment to Ministry.  As God spoke to her, “This is the new era of Gospel Music” “This Praise will reach the unreachable”. Her career expanded to cover accomplishments with credits that include show openings for gospel icons as Dorinda Clark Cole, Dewayne Woods, Tonex, Tramaine Hawkins and appearing on Tamela Mann stage in Arlington, Texas. In 2010 Velneeta group Anointed Chosen by Grace formerly known as the Temples of Praise started to excel higher in history. Their experience and skills in the gift of Praise dance landed them as  a nationally known group “Anointed Chosen by Grace Of Kansas City” a spot on the Bobby Jones Gospel Presents in 2010 (Word Network Television) and this group was called back to the show by viewer’s choice.  After these appearances on the Ambassadors show Velneeta was asked to create a national praise dance production on Dr. Bobby Jones stage to be aired on International Television “The Evolution of Praise Dance”.  Velneeta auditions and called teams from all over the country to meet in Nashville; Tn. She hosted the show with Dr. Bobby Jones and Nationally Known Dance Director Shawn of Krash Krew dance Ministry in July of 2012.  This showed aired on Impact Television where Velneeta is now creating her own show with very high reference. The show Evolution of Praise births her new national ministry “A Movement of Praise”. that consist of teams from around the country, who are focused on the purpose of Praise Dance and understands “We are not here to Entertain, but to Obtain souls for the Kingdom with a “Kingdom mind set”.  ”.  As her choreography continues to multiply by former group members, she gives God all the Glory.  As she welcomes everyone with the true anointing of Dance.

 

A Movement of Praise featuring her group Anointed Chosen by Grace travels the country and internationally spreading the word of God through the gift of dance. They come together in different states as one body,  to honor God in dance. Essence of Praise (Atlanta Ga, Oklahoma Ok, Mobile Ala, St. Louis  Mo, Arlington  TX and  Dallas  TX just to name a few. Additionally, her dance experience has led her to serve as Liturgical Dance Director for her church and for many major events in the gospel world. Managing many dance styles Velneeta combines dance teams into one ultimate praise with a high number of members up to 60 plus. Velneeta now has taken on a new Ministry as she continues her purpose and calling in Dance. She will go beyond the four walls of the church to gather young women from all walks of life, with focus on the under privileged.  Anointed Chosen by Grace with Velneeta will go into the deep of Praise Dancing by reaching into the communities all over the Kansas City area and United States, to Inspire, encourage, motivate and most of all empower young people in Christ.   Our purpose and mission is to instill within the homeless shelters, group homes, hospitals and other organizations to create sponsorship and partnering in ending the crisis of our youth. “It is not the Dance “It is the “Praise ‘ in the Dance” This teaching will not just teach our people to dance, it will bring understanding to why we dance and usher in the knowledge of who their creator is “The Great I am is within You”.  Because He created you and he is with you always, he is with you today, tomorrow and forever. This is why we praise him in Dance.  “Velneeta brings it to Life” in His Name for he is God and his will shall be done on earth as it is in heaven.  Our children must know there Father, this praise is catching their attention. As God commands: Psalms 149:3 Let them Praise Him in the Dance.

I ask you to allow me to inspire and encourage our communities, Dance Ministries or become a sponsor to help us get our young people moving in Christ developing and understanding who they are in Him. There are no requirements to praise God, my approach is different than most. I have no problem entering their level of thinking in a profound way before, an then bringing them to my level to empower them with this great gift to express their hearts to change lives.  I am called to draw their attention, inspire, encourage and motivate. Also I am experienced to form and bring order and direction to dance leaders and their teams. We are not to compete, but we will defeat the Devil in unity and victory by introducing God in an exciting way, to at least get our young people to a new level of life and Worshiping God thru our Praise Dance. This is not the end of the vision, God has given me for our children.  We first have to bring them together in this exciting way; then they will be even more excited when they realize they have a purpose and everyone will be able to see their gift, as we prepare for Greater…
